Here's our 2012 schedule...

Tuesday, January 24
The Thrill of the Chill
Iced tea is currently the hottest beverage on the planet! Join us as we sample such delights as blueberry oolong sorbet and fresh fruits glistening with black tea syrup.
We'll explore tea syrups and learn the latest tea trends.

Tuesday, January 31
Hawaii Grown Tea: A Tasting
Hawaii grown tea is one of the newest, most exciting - and most expensive - of U.S. teas. Join us for this special afternoon as we sample white, oolong and black tea samples of this artisan crop and then pair these teas with Hawaiian inspired food.

Tuesday, February 7
The Lavender Tea
Lavender possesses a remarkable array of uses as well as a fascinating history. Explore all that lavender has to offer, including a light tea featuring lavender recipes.

Tuesday, February 14

For Dark Chocolate Lovers Only
Love chocolate? Learn more of the chocolate world while indulging in "hi-octane" samples containing between 60% & 80% cocoa solids. We pair them with a tea that can hold its own and there’s no worries about over-indulging. These chocolates, and the tea, are good for us!

Tuesday, February 21
The Big World of Chocolate
Rather than tasting a variety of dark chocolates, each with a progressive amount of cocoa butter as above, we now taste premium samples of white, milk, dark, and exotically flavored chocolates & pair each with a different tea. A program guaranteed to awaken your senses!

Tuesday, February 28
Remembering Miss Millay
A presentation for the passionate among us! Learn of the life and loves of Edna St. Vincent Millay, the icon of the 1920’s jazz babies and the first woman to win a Pulitzer Prize for poetry. Interspersed throughout the presentation are dramatic readings of her poetry. We'll then move on to a cream tea where we'll also sample two flavored teas
.

Tuesday, March 6
Mr. President, How Long Must Women Wait?
This program is both an amusing and dramatic look at the tactics and strategies of the daring woman who organized the first examples of civil disobedience in our country. Was she more radical than the British Suffragettes? We’ll leave you to decide that! Tea and sweets served afterwards.

Thursday, March 8
What Were They Thinking?
Sometimes fashions from another era find us shaking our heads and wondering, "What were they thinking!?" This talk allows us an amusing step back in time for a peek at fashions that hid a woman’s real body, gave her the look of a mermaid, and helped to make swooning the rage! A cream tea with the opportunity to sample two different teas will follow.

Thursday, March 15
Aprons: Tracing Our Heritage
These icons are the inside track to the American home throughout the decades. Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite apron or one that has been in their family. A selection of tea breads and toppings will follow - and tea, of course!

Thursday, March 22
Bagology
Can a woman be haunted by visions of handbags? Does a woman carry anything with as much mystery and power? What do our handbags say about us? Join us for an afternoon of fun and exploration and, of course, tea and dessert!.

Sunday, April 1
The Fairy Lovely Afternoon
We indeed began a new Burroughs tradition last year! Mothers, grandmothers, daughters and granddaughters aged 4 to 8 - all are invited to this whimsical afternoon tea on the grounds of the Burroughs Home. Your girl will be delighted with a variety of fairy activities and dessert fare guaranteed to delight even the most skittish of these creatures. Fairy costume is encouraged for the fairy parade!

Tuesday, April 3
The Victorian Fairy Painting Tea
Even grown-up girls can enjoy a fairy tea. We'll discover why the Victorians were so taken with the idea of fairies and we'll get a peek at replicas of famous 19th century fairy paintings. All while indulging in an afternoon tea to delight even the most skittish of these creatures!

Tuesday, April 10
How On Earth Did Tea Make It This Far?

While tea has been hailed as the elixir of immortality, it’s also been served as a vegetable, "encouraged" with raw eggs, and considered the villainous ruin of the British race. Learn of tea’s perilous - and amusing - journey through time. Afternoon tea will then be served.
